"PINS (Person in Need of Supervision) Diversion is a short-term and voluntary program.

A youth may qualify if they are exhibiting one or all of the following: truancy, drug and/or alcohol use, incorrigible and ungovernable behaviors."

Parents, law enforcement, or school officials may refer to PINS.

"The Independent Living Services are available to all teens in foster care from the age of 14 years to 21. This is accomplished through intensive casework and participation in group activities. The teens have an opportunity to discover what it is like to take responsibility for themselves and are instructed in strategies designed to assist them with life on their own as adults."

"Preventive services are designed to strengthen the family’s ability to function more effectively and independently in order to prevent family breakup and to reunite as soon as possible if a breakup is necessary."

Foster Care is the temporary service provided to ensure the safety and well-being of children and youth while in out-of-home care. To apply you must: be at least 21 years old, in good health, and can make room in your home and heart for a child or children who need safe, temporary care.

Child Protective Service is a mandated service that is required to investigate any reports of suspected child abuse or maltreatment. Services to families to prevent abuse and maltreatment of a child are also provided when needed.

Assistance in applying for and understanding Medicaid for "Individuals who are over the age of 65, certified blind or disabled, not certified disabled but chronically ill, or in need of Medicaid coverage of nursing facility services"

"The Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement Component of the Home Energy Assistance Program is available to help low-income homeowners repair or replace furnaces, boilers and other direct heating components necessary to keep the home's primary heating source functional. "

The NYS Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a federally funded program that assists low-income residents of New York in meeting their home energy needs. The HEAP program is comprised of Regular Benefit, Emergency Benefit, and Weatherization components.
