"The Practical Nursing Program reduces the time commitment and financial obligations of a college program. This 10-month program results in NYS certification that is transferable to most states and offers access to financial assistance. Because each person is unique, Self Direction empowers people to design supports based on their strengths and needs. It gives you more control over the funding used to buy your services. A Support Broker is a professional who educates the person and family on Self-Directed service options, and assists the person in developing a Self Direction budget, writing Habilitation Plans, and facilitating Planning Team meetings. "

"Assistive Technology is a HCBS (Home and Community Based Service) that provides funding for Environmental Modification (E-mod). "E-mods" are adaptations to an individual's environment that allow for more independence or addresses issues related to health and safety. Some examples are ramps, lifts, bathroom and kitchen modifications, fences, safety devices for individuals who are blind or deaf, and widened doorways and hallways."
