"An alternative to the more complex criminal and juvenile justice system. This innovative approach to juvenile justice serves our county as an early intervention option for first and some preapproved 2nd-time offenders who have committed minor offenses. It is designed to help eligible youths ages 10 to 17 have their court case heard in a real courtroom with youth volunteers serving as prosecuting and defense attorneys, court clerks, bailiffs and judges rather than become involved in Family Court, Jefferson County Probation Department or the Jefferson County Criminal Court."

"Restorative Practices are a set of services that seek to fundamentally change the way in which communities deal with harm. Historically in much of the world, systems focus on harm by seeking to punish offenders after the fact. Little thought (if any) is given to those who have been harmed, and seldom is action taken to prevent and reduce harm in communities before it occurs."

"Family Visitation Program has provided non-therapeutic supervised visitation by volunteers and staff for parents and other family members with their separated child(ren). Founded upon recommendation by Jefferson County Family Court, it fulfills the unmet need for affordable visitation services for non-foster care cases. Sliding scale fees for services engenders most families an opportunity to bond with their child(ren) while ultimately helping reduce future CPS/child welfare system intervention."
